PRESS STATEMENT: AREAi Launches Project55, Announces JustUsedTech as First Technical Partner

Abuja, Nigeria, November 13th, 2025

Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi), a leading nonprofit organisation committed to transforming learning and teaching outcomes using technology, has officially launched Project55, a bold Pan-African initiative designed to unlock the potential of young people in all 55 African countries.

AREAi announced its partnership with JustUsedTech, which joins as the first technical partner on Project55. This collaboration marks a significant step toward bridging Africa’s digital divide by providing sustainable, refurbished, and affordable technology to underserved communities across the continent.

Project55 builds on AREAi’s proven track record of impact. Since its inception, the organisation has reached over 20,000 beneficiaries across multiple states in Nigeria and expanded its programs to other African countries. With this momentum, Project55 aims to scale impact to millions of young Africans, equipping them with digital tools, critical skills, and access to innovation-driven opportunities.

Speaking at the launch, Prince Gideon Olanrewaju, Global Director and CEO of AREAi, stated:

“Africa’s greatest resource is its young people. With Project55, we are not just launching another program; we are building a continental movement that will ensure every child and youth has the tools, skills, and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to Africa’s future. Partnering with JustUsedTech reaffirms our belief that sustainability and impact can go hand-in-hand in building that future.”

Also commenting on the partnership, Oreolorun Titobi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, JustUsedTech, said:

“We are excited to be the first technical partner for Project55. At JustUsedTech, we believe that access to technology should never be a privilege; it should be a right. Leveraging our devices as catalysts for change, we instigate significant impact for individuals while mitigating electronic waste. This dual focus fosters a sustainable environment and cultivates a circular economy. Together with AREAi, we are not only giving devices a second life but also giving millions of young Africans the opportunity to create brighter futures.”

With a target to reach millions of young people across Africa, Project55 is designed as a collaborative platform that brings together governments, private sector players, development organisations, and community-based partners to scale inclusive solutions for Africa’s growth.

Project55 is more than an initiative; it is a call to action for stakeholders across Africa and beyond to invest in education, innovation, and sustainable technology as pathways to building a prosperous and inclusive continent.

Prince Gideon Olanrewaju
